I am a retired engineer who understands the concepts of quality control and continuous improvement. I am also an ardent caravan lover. Over the past 30 years I have owned a number of luxury caravans and travelled throughout most of Australia. 

In the 11 years that I have been retired, I have designed and had custom built, 3 magnificent tandem axle caravans by a boutique caravan manufacturer. With each new caravan came an increase in my demands for sophistication and quality improvement. 

For my most recent caravan, I requested that it be built on a chassis supplied by F.P. Chassis Pty Ltd, to whom I supplied a fully specified and dimensioned drawing. The 7.0 metre heavyduty chassis called for tandem 2000 kgm. rated overlay axles, 12" electric brakes, and 16" wheels with tyres to my specifications.

Whilst none of this was new to Frank Pannella at F.P. Chassis Pty Ltd, my specified suspension type was. Suspension was to be trailing arm Firestone airbag type (Model VA03-Tandem) as supplied and fitted by Victorian Air Suspension. This suspension complies to ADR 38/02 with a Maximum Axle Group Load of 7 tonnes.

The job called for F.P. Chassis Pty Ltd to manufacture the chassis without any suspension components, and arrange for transportation of the chassis, complete with axle assemblies and wheels to Victorian Air Suspension at Laverton North. 

Upon receipt of the chassis, and prior to fitting the suspension components, Mr Greg Gallagher of Victoria Air Suspensions commented to me that it was one of the best looking caravan chassis that he had seen. 

I am extremely pleased with the completed chassis. Every aspect of the 7.0 metre chassis was dimensionally accurate to within ± 2 mm. For anyone who knows the industry, this is extremely accurate. The quality of the welding is a pleasure to behold, with no weld spatter anywhere. 

In my professional opinion, F.P. Chassis Pty Ltd has manufactured a product that far "outclasses" all of chassis fitted to my previous caravans. 

In my discussions and dealings with Frank Pannella at F.P. Chassis Pty Ltd, I was impressed by his knowledge, expertise, enthusiasm and desire to satisfy my every request, but most of all with the quality and workmanship of the finished product. 

As a customer who demands the best, I am entirely satisfied will every aspect of my dealings with Frank Pannella and his Staff at F.P.Chassis Pty Ltd. and will promote him and his product at every opportunity.

As explained on the telephone on Thursday, the replacement spring arrived on the Thursday morning (a day earlier than expected) and I fitted it that afternoon and left Bega on Friday morning.

The reason for this email is to thank you sincerely for your service to this "stranded on the side of the road" traveller and to apologise for my lack of trust, initially, that you would offer speedy assistance to enable us to reach Gladstone QLD by next Thursday.

By the way, FP Chassis P/L deserve a wrap, I have owned 5 vans over the years and never seen a chassis this clean with excellent welding and surface finish before.
